Jock gets gunned down by a furry... Ain't that just the way...

David L. Katzenbogen, codenamed Bazooka, is a member of G.I. Joe with a specialty in Armor Defeating Weapons Systems. He evidently did not keep up with fashion trends after joining up with the team, which may explain why his standard outfit seems to be a football jersey.

Fiction[edit | edit source]

When The Pit came under attack by Spider drones that had infiltrated the base, Bazooka wielded his namesake and blew up the arachnoid android under orders from General Hawk. G.I. Joe vol. 1 #4

Despite his obvious preference for football, Bazooka deigned to play some basketball with a couple of G.I. Joe Military Policemen, his skills on the court leaving an impression on both of them. The Betrayers Part 5

Bazooka accompanied Duke and Scarlett on an undercover mission to bring in Dr. Gerry Orizama before Cobra could get to him, a decision Ace found questionable given his outdated fashion sense. After arriving, Bazooka rented a flashy muscle car rather than something subtle like a plain minivan, something he justified by saying he'd fit in better behind the wheel of something like that. As he waited for Duke and Scarlett to return with Orizama, Bazooka spotted a quartet of people wearing animal masks exiting a van and heading towards the same building. Calling it in back to base, Bazooka got out and tried to stop them only for one of the masked men to pull a gun on him. Taking some hits, Bazooka was unable to stop the wolf man from kidnapping Dr. Orizama but did prevent him from killing his teammates, albeit at the cost of his own life. G.I. Joe vol. 1 #14 Following his death, Stalker led a memorial service for him at The Pit's rec room and hung his framed Football jersey up on the wall. G.I. Joe vol. 1 #15 Duke would later place a photo of Bazooka in his wallet along with pictures of several other Joes that had been killed by Cobra. The Fall of G.I. Joe Part Three
