"Cobra Command" is a crossover storyline published in early 2012 by IDW Publishing that brings together the stories and characters of G.I. Joe volume 2, G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes, and G.I. Joe: Cobra volume 2. Following directly from Krake becoming the new Cobra Commander at the end of "Cobra Civil War", it shows Cobra coming out of the shadows under his leadership in a direct attack on the country of Nanzhao.

Creative team[edit]

The "Cobra Command" event was co-written by Chuck Dixon and Mike Costa, with the G.I. Joe and Snake Eyes issues written by Dixon and the Cobra issues written by Costa; art was handled by Alex Cal with assistance from Beni Lobel and colors by J. Brown. The structure of the event, with issues mainly focusing on the cast of the ongoings they were part of (with Snake Eyes characters primarily appearing in Snake Eyes issues of Cobra Command, etc.), was inspired by Bill Willingham's "The Great Fables Crossover".[1]

Joe’s” New Cobra Commander at CBR.com: “I actually took inspiration from the way Bill Willingham did his big ‘Fables’ crossover between ‘Fables,’ ‘Jack of Fables,’ and this third comic he created for the crossover. Each of the books kept their main cast, even as they were telling the next part of the story, and I thought that was a really cool way of handling it."
