Molded by the furnace of the Australian Outback, the outlaw biker gang known as the Dreadnoks are one of the most dangerous gang of outlaws this side of the Southern Hemisphere! Though they were long content to keep to their camp in the Outback, a chance encounter with the shapeshifter Zartan brought them into the larger criminal world, leading to employment opportunities with Cobra even after they kicked the traitorous Zartan to the curb.

Following the detonation of a bomb planted aboard his private plane, Zartan was stranded in the Australian outback, where he was discovered by the Dreadnoks Buzzer, Ripper, and Torch. Serpent's Shadow, Part 3 Despite the three of them seeming rather unimpressed with Zartan, the outsider eventually became the leader of the group.

During Zartan's leadership, a satellite that was instrumental in the Cobra M.A.S.S. Device project that was responsible for his creation came down in the outback. It was found by a local called Digger, who tried to sell it off to the Dreadnoks and ended up getting fed to the Dreadnoks' pet crocodile Salty for his efforts. Later that night, the Dreadnoks discovered several members of G.I. Joe's Special Missions unit who were tracking the satellite and took them prisoner. Operation: Deadfall, Part 1 Though he was bemused by their presence, Zartan had no interest in the Joes and gave his Dreadnoks permission to do with them what they pleased. Their thoughts immediately went to feeding them to Salty, but tragically Beachhead managed to kill the croc. Zartan, meanwhile, plotted to ditch the Dreadnoks with the young Thrasher so he could use his genetic code, which was stored on board the M.A.S.S. Device, to create a clone army. Operation: Deadfall, Part 2 After pitting the Dreadnoks and Joes against one another, Zartan made his escape, but his deception didn't go unnoticed. While the others chased after the Joes, who at this point had wrecked up their encampment, Ripper and Torch went after Zartan and seemingly killed him, though in truth he was just playing dead. The others fought with the outgunned and outnumbered Joes until Roadblock scared them off when he arrived with his machine gun in tow. Operation: Deadfall, Part 3
