During Zartan's leadership, a satellite that was instrumental in the Cobra M.A.S.S. Device project that was responsible for his creation came down in the outback. It was found by a local called Digger, who tried to sell it off to the Dreadnoks and ended up getting fed to the Dreadnoks' pet crocodile Salty for his efforts. Later that night, the Dreadnoks discovered several members of G.I. Joe's Special Missions unit who were tracking the satellite and took them prisoner. Operation: Deadfall, Part 1 Though he was bemused by their presence, Zartan had no interest in the Joes and gave his Dreadnoks permission to do with them what they pleased. Operation: Deadfall, Part 2 After pitting the Dreadnoks and Joes against one another, Zartan made his escape, but his deception didn't go unnoticed. While the others chased after the Joes, who at this point had wrecked up their encampment, Ripper and Torch went after Zartan and seemingly killed him, though in truth he was just playing dead. The others fought with the outgunned and outnumbered Joes until Roadblock scared them off when he arrived with his machine gun in tow. Operation: Deadfall, Part 3
