The Earth Defense Command (abbreviated EDC or E.D.C.) is an international human military organization dedicated to the protection of Earth. Operating under the banner of the United Nations with funding and equipment provided by the United States, the EDC primarily combats extraterrestrial threats, notably the Transformers.

Fiction[edit | edit source]

The Earth Defense Command rose from the ashes of Skywatch as a multinational organization that would defend the Earth from any future alien incursions (with a focus on Cybertronians). When Optimus Prime annexed the Earth, Once Upon a Time on Earth TFWikiFavicon.png the EDC was charged with exterminating the Autobots. Edge of the Earth TFWikiFavicon.png Their performance throughout the whole affair was deemed subpar and Marissa Faireborn was removed from her position as director as a result. General Joe Colton was selected as her replacement, White Light TFWikiFavicon.png and brought in several G.I. Joe veterans to serve in the organization. White Heat TFWikiFavicon.png Earthfall: Part One Convinced that the Cybertronian activity on Earth throughout the 20th and 21st centuries would result in global extinction, Colton attempted to use his new position to deploy the Talisman against the Cybertronian people. First Strike #2 TFWikiFavicon.png He was lured onto a helicopter by someone he respected however where he discovered that the ranks of the EDC infested with Dire Wraiths who attempted to assimilate him. Colton survived by amputating his own hand and fled underground to meet with Garrison Kreiger in Paris. After Rom arrived on Earth, Earthfall: Prelude a soldier who had borne witness to the act was debriefed by the EDC at Vandenberg Air Force Base. The EDC officers however were Dire Wraiths in disguise and assimilated him. Earthfall: Part One After Darby Mason had been brought in, Dire Wraith Dave Dubosky gave her a gun to fight Rom, claiming it was an EDC prototype as well as claiming the Earth Defense Command would be ready to combat the Space Knight. Once Darby had reunited with Rom and Camilla Byers, Dubosky came to collect her and brought all three to the airbase. Earthfall: Part Three Rom soon escaped EDC custody however and flew off with his friends. Earthfall: Part Four

The Wraith Colton eventually resurrected G.I. Joe as an elite anti-Cybertronian task force within the EDC before he was exposed and slain by Rom.
