Hailing from the island nation of Samoa, codename Salvo is one of G.I. Joe's new international recruits. Wearing a rocking shirt and wielding an "insane" amount of heavy firepower, Salvo's dry sense of humor and love for wielding the big guns mean she isn't afraid to share her outside perspective on G.I. Joe's mission with her allies and superiors.
Salvo joined G.I. Joe circa 2017 after the group was reformed as an international organization. On her first day, Scarlett welcomed her and gave her a tour of the Lemuria, expressing how excited she was to have more non-American members.
On her first mission, Salvo accompanied Cover Girl, Skywarp, and Rock 'n Roll on a mission to neutralize a Fatal Fluffy that had emerged from Mount Cotopaxi in Ecuador. Though the combined firepower of Skywarp and Cover Girl's Wolverine weren't enough to stop the raging beast, a pair of obscenely huge guns dual-wielded by Salvo finally pushed the monster back. When the volcano began erupting, Salvo was quick to agree to evac with Skywarp but was stopped by Cover Girl when she noticed the lava was heading towards a nearby village.
Salvo was one of Roadblock's picks for his team to head underground and take out the monsters at the source. She was angry to learn that the half-Wraith Doc would be joining them on the mission, asking that Scarlett explain how they were supposed to trust her, something that earned her an explanation that Doc had earned her chance. Once underground, Salvo wasted no time opening fire on the Fluffies the team encountered once they had assumed their monstrous forms. As one of the Fluffies moved to attack her, Tunnel Rat dove to save her, angering her since he'd ruined her shot. Once she was up, she resumed firing on the monster alongside Roadblock and Skywarp, eventually causing the Fluffy to revert back to its smaller "true" form. After Rock 'n Roll was mutated into a similar monster, Salvo began firing on him as well, trying to divert his attention away from the Mole Pods and the explosives within. With her gunfire doing next to nothing, she grabbed Tunnel Rat and ran for cover as Skywarp was thrown into one of the vehicles by Rock. After Doc managed to get Rock back to normal, Salvo complained about how he was now even more of a liability than their medic was. Skywarp took offense at how she was talking about Rock, causing Salvo to snap back at him with a comment about him and Rock's relationship. Before the argument could escalate any further, however, Roadblock stepped in to break them up. Later, as Rock 'n Roll and Skywarp embarked on an effective suicide mission to destroy the Fatal Fluffies' "nest", Salvo took the wheel of the remaining Mole Pod, taking the remaining team members back to the surface after the pair detonated their bombs.
When Cobra attacked a museum in St. Petersburg, Russia, Salvo was one of Shipwreck's hastily-chosen members for their response mission, riding in the Crossfire with Cover Girl and Lifeline. When the attackers escaped by diving into the sea and flying away, Salvo pointed out to Shipwreck that the situation could have been avoided if they'd brought aquatic transport (Shipwreck's specialty) or Skywarp (who Shipwreck had rejected bringing as he was "a jerk"). Subsequently, Salvo was chosen for Shipwreck's dedicated quick response team on the basis of the heavy weaponry she wielded; when the newly Cobra-aligned V.E.N.O.M. attacked the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, Salvo opened fire on Thunderflame in his Rhino, but was unable to damage it; calling on Gung-Ho for help, Salvo watched incredulously as he used strength-enhancing gauntlets made by Grand Slam to punch the truck across the street. Though the Joes seemed to have their foes on the ropes, the tide turned when V.E.N.O.M. combined their vehicles into the towering King Cobra!
- The original Salvo was David K. Hasle, a bald white guy from Arlington, Virginia. IDW continuity recasts the character as a woman from American Samoa (with a full head of hair) instead.
