His original choice of codename "Crotchshadow" was rejected.

A man who firmly believes in survival of the fittest, Skullbuster is in charge of training the newest recruits to Cobra's army and takes extreme steps to ensure only the best of the best survive his exercises.

Fiction[edit | edit source]

As a drill instructor for Cobra, Skullbuster's preferred method for training new recruits was taking them on what he called a "real outdoorsy adventure". After a group of recruits boarded a plane with standard gear on, he instructed them to strip down naked before they jumped. Once on the ground he would lead his naked recruits through a torturous trek through the wilderness, the purpose of which was both to make them unlearn their prior military experience and to weed out any weaknesses that may linger within them. Typically these exercises only resulted in one survivor.

On one such occasion as this, he and his recruits parachuted into the Taklamakan desert. After the first four days, one of the eight recruits had died from exposure and two others were killed for showing weakness. Eventually, the group crossed over into Afghanistan and came across a poppy field run by the Taliban. Though the five remaining men had been thoroughly taxed by the journey so far, with Skullbuster's leadership they were able to take out the entire camp with only one casualty on their side.

After shooting their way through an Afghani village that was receiving aid from the United Nations and losing two more men, Skullbuster and a pair of ex-Navy SEAL brothers reached the extraction point. When one of the brothers commented that they'd defied expectations by having two survivors instead of one, Skullbuster motioned as though he was going to kill one of them but didn't. After they climbed on board the helicopter though and the pilot informed Skullbuster that his next group would be waiting for him when they landed, one of the brothers committed suicide by jumping out of the helicopter, horrified by the realization of Cobra's true nature. After this, Skullbuster let out a small chuckle, his prediction having panned out after all. Viper's Nest
